In the Holy Bible in Matthew, Chapter 4, Jesus tells Peter and Andrew, who were fishermen (and brothers), to put down their fishing nets and follow Him, and He would make them fishers of men. What Jesus was trying to say to Peter and Andrew, and to us, is that when we follow Him and His teachings, we will be led to witness for Him and to win others to His Kingdom.
At Go Fish Charlotte, we begin everyday with a prayer — not that the Lord would bring us business, but that He would bring in through our doors those people who need Him, so that we could be used as a vessel to bring Christian love to those who need it. Our truest desire is that we would be able to provide the gift of Christ to everyone who graces our store — through a smile, a prayer, or just a friendly "hello".
Go Fish offers a free book simply titled, "God's Story" to anyone who wants or needs it. This unassuming book, once opened, is actually the most powerful book ever printed —The Holy Bible, NIV. And so it is that Go Fish Charlotte is doing as Christ commanded — becoming Fishers Of Men.
TWO FAMILIES -- ONE MISSIONThe Guercios and the Browns — best friends and more. Tony and Keith met in 1981 while working at Chick-Fil-A in Charlotte and quickly became good friends. They each met the love-of-their-lives in high school. Keith and Melanie married in 1988; Tony and Jennie married in 1993. Keith and Tony were both successful in business, while Melanie and Jennie had the hard jobs — raising the children.
The Guercios have 3 children and the Browns have 2. While Melanie was a stay-at-home Mom, Jennie taught 4th grade in a Christian school. However, both couples felt that something was missing and wanted to be able to do more for others. In 2003, they discovered what they were being led to do. Tony & Jennie Brown and Keith & Melanie Guercio discovered the Go Fish store in Charleston, SC and met with Curt Coleman of Go Fish Clothing & Jewelry Co. Almost 2 years later, in November, 2005, Go Fish Charlotte was finally born!
